The Governing Council of Adamawa State University (ADSU), on Monday 20th July, 2026, led by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Professor Maxwell Gidado (SAN), has carried out an extensive inspection tour of facilities across the institution to evaluate preparations for the commencement of medical programmes.

The inspection focused on the College of Medical and Allied Health Sciences, where Council members reviewed progress on infrastructure and facilities designed to ensure a smooth take-off. Professor Gidado commended Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for his unwavering commitment to higher education, noting that sustained investment reflects the administration’s determination to produce more qualified medical professionals and strengthen healthcare delivery in the state.

He also praised Vice Chancellor Professor Augustine Clement for ensuring that construction works meet acceptable standards, adding that the facilities have been designed to accommodate future expansion and position ADSU as a centre of excellence in medical education. Professor Gidado further revealed that the next phase of the project will involve the installation of modern teaching and laboratory equipment conforming to international standards.

The inspection team also visited other strategic projects, including the Entrepreneurship Development Centre, where Director Professor Aliyu Fadamu showcased modern equipment for practical skills acquisition. Additional facilities inspected included the ADSU Water Factory, Multipurpose Event Centre, Demonstration Secondary and Primary School, Artificial Insemination Centre, CBT Centre, and the Innovation Hub 8 Centre currently under construction.

Speaking at the end of the tour, Vice Chancellor Professor Clement expressed appreciation to the Governing Council for its effective monitoring role, reaffirming that oversight is their core mandate. He also thanked the Visitor to the University, Governor Fintiri, for his commitment to education and for creating an enabling environment for excellence.

The inspection underscores ADSU’s Governing Council’s dedication to accountability and quality assurance, ensuring that facilities meet the standards required for effective teaching, research, and community service.
