The Department of Common Law was established to provide excellent undergraduate, postgraduate and professional lawyers required for promotion and development of Adamawa State, Nigeria and humanity.

About the Department
Justice, Integrity, and Legal Excellence.
The Department of Common Law is a cornerstone of the university’s Faculty of Law, committed to fostering a profound understanding of legal systems rooted in common law traditions. Established to cultivate skilled, ethical, and socially responsible legal professionals, the department combines rigorous academic training with practical experience to prepare students for diverse careers in law and governance.
Our curriculum is designed to provide a strong foundation in legal theory, principles of equity, constitutional law, contract and tort law, criminal justice, and jurisprudence. Students benefit from an intellectually stimulating environment, mentorship from experienced legal scholars, and opportunities to develop critical thinking, advocacy, and research skills.
