Prof. Aliyu Alhaji Jibrilla is a distinguished Professor of Economics and an accomplished academic leader, currently serving as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics) at Adamawa State University, Mubi. With over 15 years of experience in higher education, his expertise spans Environmental Economics, Applied Econometrics, Development Economics, and International Trade. A prolific researcher, he has published extensively in Scopus Q1-Q4 journals, earning recognition such as the Outstanding Reviewer Award from Elsevier’s Ecological Indicators. His work bridges theory and policy, addressing critical issues like sustainable development, health economics, and energy policy in Nigeria and Africa.

As a transformative leader, Prof. Jibrilla holds key responsibilities in shaping ADSU’s academic and operational excellence. He currently chairs four major university committees: the Accreditation Committee, ensuring compliance with national and international academic standards; the Academic Planning Committee, driving curriculum innovation and resource optimization; and the Students’ Disciplinary Committee, upholding institutional integrity, among others. Previously, he served as Head of the Economics Department (2018–2023), Director of Distance and E-Learning (2023–2025), and Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences (2021–2023), leaving a lasting impact on academic governance and student success.

Prof. Jibrilla’s research focuses on ecological sustainability, economic integration, and human capital development, with numerous peer-reviewed publications and collaborations across the globe. His studies on air pollution’s gendered health impacts (published in Environmental Science and Pollution Research) and fiscal sustainability in oil-dependent economies (in Cogent Economics and Finance) are widely cited. He actively contributes to global scholarly discourse as an Editor-in-Chief of ADSU’s International Journal of Applied Economics, Finance and Management and a reviewer for Scopus-indexed journals like Ecological Indicators, Environmental Science and Pollution Research and, Cogent Economics and Finance.

Committed to nurturing future leaders, Prof. Jibrilla has taught undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Econometrics, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Financial Economics, Development Economics, and Environmental Policy at ADSU. He has supervised several M.Sc. and Ph.D. theses, many addressing Nigeria’s pressing challenges, such as tax policy, healthcare financing, and conflict economics. His mentorship extends beyond the classroom through workshops on research funding, statistical analysis, and academic writing, empowering faculty and students alike.

Beyond academia, Prof. Jibrilla engages in policy advisory and consultancy, partnering with state governments and NGOs on projects related to human capital development, agricultural value chains, and renewable energy. He is a member of the Nigerian Economic Society and the International Society for Development and Sustainability, reflecting his dedication to interdisciplinary solutions for sustainable growth.
