About the Department
Shaping Minds to Shape the Nation.
The Department of Political Science is currently running a B.Sc. Degree Programme in Political Science. In addition to the undergraduate Programme, the Department also offers Postgraduate Diploma in Political Science (PGDPS), Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Political Science and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Political Science. The programmes are designed to meet the manpower needs of Adamawa State, Nigeria and the global community.
Philosophy
The philosophy of the Department of Political Science is anchored on the fundamental needs of the immediate environment in order to satisfy the staff requirements of the civil service at the national, state and local government levels.
Adamawa State University attaches due consideration to the production of high level manpower that will stimulate the growth of the civil service, geared towards national development. The programmes offered is also designed to equip graduates with qualitative and analytical skills to comprehend their social, political and economic environments for them to contribute meaningfully to national development either as public servants or on private employment as entrepreneurs. The programme also enables students to appreciate current trends in globalization and information technology as well as inculcate positive character building on students to serves as good citizens in the society.
