About the Department

Service, Integrity, and Leadership for the Public Good

The Department of Public Administration is currently running B.Sc. Degree Programme in Public Administration.The Department of Public Administration was first established in 2002 at the inception of the University, the Department also offers Postgraduate Diploma in Public Administration (PGDPA), Masters in Public Administration (MPA), Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Public Administration, Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Public Administration. Equally, the Department also runs a variety of sandwich programme. The programme are designed to meet the manpower needs of Adamawa State, Nigeria and the global community.

Philosophy

The philosophy of the Department of Public Administration is anchored on the fundamental needs of the immediate environment in order to satisfy the staff requirements of the civil service at the national, state and local government levels. Adamawa State University attaches due consideration to the production of high level manpower that will stimulate the growth of the civil service geared towards national development.  The B.Sc. programme is also designed to equip graduates with qualitative and analytical skills to comprehend their social, political and economic environments for them to contribute meaningfully to national development either as public servants or on private employment as entrepreneurs.  The programme also enable students to appreciate current trends in globalization and information technology as well as inculcate positive character building on students to serves as good citizens in the society.

The Department of Public Administration establishes an international peer-reviewed journal titled the ADSU International Journal of Politics, Administration and Management (AIJPAM). The journal provides a platform for scholars, practitioners, and policymakers to publish cutting-edge research in administration and related disciplines.
