Directorate of Research, Innovation & Development

Driving Knowledge for Societal Transformation

At Adamawa State University (ADSU), we are committed to advancing Research, Innovation and Development that address real-world challenges and contribute to sustainable development. Our Directorate of Research, Innovation and Development serves as the nucleus for fostering a vibrant research culture, promoting interdisciplinary collaboration, and securing funding opportunities to support groundbreaking studies.

Our vision is to be a catalyst for delivering quality research that positively impacts national development. We aim to facilitate best practices in relevant, innovative, and quality-driven research in partnership with stakeholders to meet the needs of both national and global economies.

The Directorate of Research, Innovation and Development established to enhance research activities at ADSU. It is responsible for organizing conferences and attracting research grants from various organizations such as TETFund, the European Union, and the United Nations. Notably, a significant number of academic staff have benefited from TETFund research grants. The Directorate welcomes positive suggestions that would lead to impactful results.

Established in 2017, the Directorate of Research and Innovation at Adamawa State University, Mubi, plays a central role in cultivating a strong research culture across the institution. Its core responsibilities include promoting impactful research initiatives, organizing academic conferences, and facilitating the acquisition of research grants from local and international agencies. The Directorate has positioned itself as a vital component in enhancing the university’s academic and developmental goals.

Notable achievements include the successful training of over 180 academic staff through quarterly workshops focused on grant proposal writing, leading to a significant increase in research activity and excellence. These efforts have resulted in the acquisition of over NGN 200 million in research grants through the TETfund Institution Based Research (IBR) grant. A landmark accomplishment was the approval of a concept note under the TETFund National Research Fund (NRF), representing the university’s first major success with this prestigious national grant programme.

Looking ahead, the Directorate plans to deepen its impact through strategic initiatives. These include hosting annual research fairs, establishing a Knowledge Transfer Office to bridge academia and industry, enhancing support for grant acquisition, and fostering national and international research collaborations.

Administratively, the Directorate is led by a Director and supported by a team of administrative personnel comprising a Personal Secretary, an Administrative Officer, a Senior Executive Officer, and a Driver.
