PREFACE

The Department of Taxation at Adamawa State University (ADSU), Mubi was curved out from the Department of Accounting to become and independent entity in June, 2024. It is with great pride and a sense of responsibility that, I welcome you to the department of taxation, which was established as a standalone department to meet the evolving needs of the Nigerian economy. Taxation is no longer just a sub-discipline of accounting or law, it is a vital pillar of National Sovereignty and sustainable development. At Adamawa State University Mubi, we are committed to providing a comprehensive educational experience that bridges the gap between complex tax theories and the practical demands of modern revenue administration.

Our academic offering is designed to cater to every stage of professional development such as: Bachelor of Sciences in Taxation (BSc) that builds foundational, technical and ethical skills. The Master’s in Tax and Revenue Administration (MTRA); Master of Sciences in Taxation (MSc) and Doctor of Philosophy in Taxation (PhD) programs, which empowered scholars to contribute original research to the global body of tax knowledge and policy formulation. The inclusion of the PhD program scores our commitment to being a premier centre for tax research in the northeast and beyond.

We aim to produce postgraduates who can influence tax policy at the highest level of government and international organisation. We maintain a close synergy with the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN) and other regulatory bodies to ensure our curriculum remains aligned with current reforms, such as the Nigeria Tax Act, 2025. This ensure that our students – from undergraduates to doctoral candidates are not only well- informed, but also industry- ready.
