ADSU Hosts North-East Research & Innovation Symposium

Adamawa State University (ADSU), Mubi, recently played host to the prestigious North-East Research & Innovation Symposium, a transformative gathering of intellectuals, technologists, policy makers, and students from across the region. The event, held at the university’s main auditorium, focused on the theme “Driving Regional Development Through Research, Innovation, and Collaboration.”

The symposium showcased groundbreaking research projects, innovative tech solutions, and policy discussions aimed at tackling key developmental challenges in the North-East, including education, agriculture, health, climate resilience, and entrepreneurship.

Renowned keynote speakers included Dr. Hadiza Musa from the National Research Council and Prof. Tunde Bakare of the African Innovation Institute. Panels and breakout sessions covered diverse topics such as sustainable agriculture, digital transformation, indigenous research commercialization, and cross-institutional research partnerships.

In her welcome remarks, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Kaletapwa G. Farauta, highlighted ADSU’s growing role in promoting academic excellence and regional development through research. “This symposium is not just a celebration of intellect, but a call to action,” she said. “Our region has enormous potential, and it begins with ideas, research, and collaboration.”

Exhibitions by student innovators and faculty researchers sparked interest among invited investors and government officials, leading to discussions on future grants, incubation programs, and partnership opportunities.

The event concluded with a networking dinner and the inauguration of the North-East Research and Innovation Network (NERIN), hosted by ADSU to continue driving the vision of innovation-led development in the region.
